The perfect expression of the Russian temperament… the dryness of vodka, the spicy absinthian kick of ginger, the bite of lime finished with refreshing, poignant effervescence. In Russia, they drink beer in the day and vodka at night. This cocktail embodies both in one refreshing slurp. Perfect for a rock show! Being that this week’s post pays homage to our home land we decided to throw a warm twist into this classic cocktail known as a Moscow Mule. Just as the Salt Lake City summer sun so routinely beats down on the valley as temperatures soar into the 100’s, a dash of something warmly sweet needed to be added. Normally dry and bitter yet with zest and zing that pulls you in wanting to know more about what this enigmatic specimen embodies, we added a touch of pineapple to exemplify the warmhearted nature of the people of SLC. To adorn the cocktail further, aspects of what the city holds had to be added to bring this cocktail home. The honey and salt upon the rim are two local commodities that Salt Lake City prides itself upon. The copper mug is a standard, plus Salt Lake City holds the second largest copper mine in the United States. Eureka!!
